Sorry for the off-line period, we had to replace our server and change the operating system too. We did this to ensure our website is secure and, hopefully, to make it faster. Well, one can only hope and we'll appreciate any suggestions or reclamations regarding our free dating site functionality, security and speed.
While the server was off-line the domain cafebar.ro was redirected to Google Adsense (well, we hoped we could make an extra cent - and this is exactly what we did: a cent :)) as you probably noticed. Not much of an income we get from this, but still, better then showing an empty page to the visitors.
Back to our issue, the good news are that almost nothing was lost, profiles, blogs, photos etc. and also that the script was upgraded to a much safer and faster version. Again, any suggestions are welcomed. There were a few new profiles created just before we got off line we didn't had backups so those are lost, but basically everything is still here and will be.
The site "face" has been replaced (again) with the previous one, considered faster and much more nicer (we made a poll to ensure of this :)). A lot of features have been removed, but most of them unnecessary and probably annoying, too, like banners, links to other sites, etc. Many of them will be replaced but the idea is to keep the site cleaner and, therefore, to provide a better experience when navigating through its pages. So, we will not load it too much with Adsense banner or whatever.
The rules are the same, be serious, polite, no fake photos in your profile, no scam, no spam etc. The forum was replaced and we'll soon change its template to match our site's one. The chat has been also been upgraded (still making modifications, doesn't work so good now - also, the video chat hasn't been implemented yet).
A new feature currently we're testing is a service provided by a third site which will allow members to individually chat with each other through video as well as text. If this will prove to be fast and safe for our community, we will replace the instant messenger with it. Now they are both activated, and the video chat messenger will display in a bar at the bottom of the page, in Facebook's style. Talking about style, we've implemented a bottom on each profile page that will allow anyone to publish that profile on their Facebook pages in the form of "John Doe likes Member" (you will see) where J.D is the one who clicks the button and the Member is, obviously, the member.
The buddy plugin has been replaced to a somehow friends system similar to the one used by the social sites (facebook, myspace etc.): a friend request is sent to another user and this one must approve/deny it in order to become your friend or not - many requests can be sent at once, to simplify this process.
