We did our best to improve our members security and to keep them away from scammers and spammers. And we managed to do a good job until now, since nobody complained of being scammed or spammed by the other members.
However, when talking about safety, there's never enough, as you probably know. No matter how many rules and security walls we'll raise, they're always a little chance for someone to break those and try to take advantage of the other members. I'm talking about scammers here. Since we're not asking you sensitive information to register and use our services mainly because we're afraid for these information not to reach some hacker/scammer, the only danger for you is to fall into that scamming old trick: "if you want to know me send me an email at..."
Let me make a break and remind you again that once you leave the safety of our dating community, you're on your own, we can't be responsible if anyone takes advantage of you in any way. That's why I'm saying again: pay much attention to those "contact me on my email" messages; if you think a message from another members sounds like scam, report it FAST on the forum.
Now, about you, us, the scammers and the new measure we took to protect our members.
From now on we'll register the IP our members are using to register and also the IP(s) our members are using when they login. Also, if you modify your account details, your registered IP will be recorded again, as the IP you registered from. In other words, no more Senegal users registering from USA... or the other way, for what it matters. The login IP will be made available on the search page and also on the first page of our site (the last registered profiles). You'll notice above every thumbnail Last IP:
This is not all, however. Click on that IP and a whois page will open which will contain details about that IP.
I must say this: this is no danger for your privacy, by the contrary. The IP whois ONLY displays information about your ISP (internet hosting provider), information that is public, anyway - not about you. Nobody can locate you having your IP. Except for the ISP, of course. But, knowing who the ISP of some user is, one could contact his ISP and fill a report, if is the case. In other words, you can contact the scammer's ISP and tell them that from one of their IPs someone is doing illegal things. They'll, surely, take the legal actions.
And, of course, you can always unplug your router and connect it again to receive a new IP, but the ISP, in case of reports, does keep the recordings of who/when used their IPs, so for the scammer is a lost battle.
Well, that's the latest security measures and site upgrades we made for now. We're still working to integrate the video-audio chat, and is also very possible to use some third service for this, like userplane, for example. Since not much people are using the chat, probably will be OK either way, for you, but anyway, we still want the video chat.
This is all for now. Prepare for the love season... the spring is coming.
